Edaphotheria (lit. "ground beasts") are a clade of Platydontia native to the steppe.
Description[]
As opposed to the tree-dwelling Archeplatydontia, the Edaphotheres evolved from more generalist Platydonts, first emerging around the year 4230ma.
Edaphotheres are incredibly diverse, displaying a great deal of variation in lifestyle, habitat, and anatomy. Edaphotheres are the first clade to develop full endothermy, and have more demanding diets as a result.
Branches[]
- Eurycheiridae: Diverse clade ranging from small, basal mesocarnivores to gigantic, pelagic filter feeders.
- Leptopoda: Role of herbivorous grazers before Mass Extinction with sole surviving genus.
