Tanypterida (lit. "long fins") are a clade of Orthorhachia.
First emerging around 4075ma, Tanypterids are native to Anthostome reefs. As their name suggests, they possess long thin bodies of roughly uniform width. Like the ancestral Orthorhachids, Tanypterids rely on anguilliform swimming, focusing on maneuverability over speed.
Most Tanypterids have coloration that helps them blend into the reefs, providing them with a form of camouflage.
